EAROL® AFTERCARE ADVICE

It may be suggested after your appointment to use Earol to prevent ear wax build-up in future.

Softening Ear wax
Earol® keeps the wax moist and prevents it from hardening, making it easier for the ear’s natural cleaning process to remove it.
Soft wax is more likely to move out of the ear canal naturally, reducing the risk of blockages.

Preventing Impacted Wax
Regular use of Earol® can help prevent wax from becoming compacted.

Lubricating the Ear Canal
This helps maintain a healthy environment in the ear and prevents irritation or dryness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Can I use cooking olive oil instead of medical-grade olive oil like EarolĀ®?
It is best to use medical-grade olive oil, as it is sterilised and free from impurities that could cause irritation or infection. Cooking olive oil may contain contaminants that are not suitable for ear use.
  • Can I use sodium bicarbonate or hydrogen peroxide instead of olive oil?
Yes, both sodium bicarbonate drops and hydrogen peroxide can help soften earwax, but they may cause irritation or dryness, especially if used frequently. Olive oil is gentler and helps lubricate the ear canal, making it a preferred option for regular use.
  • Is it safe to use olive oil in my ears if I have an ear infection or perforated eardrum?
No, you should avoid using olive oil if you have an ear infection or perforated eardrum.
  • How often should I use olive oil before my appointment?
It is recommended to use ear drops at least 48 hours before treatment, unless you have been given specific advice from your GP or Audiologist.
